In the UK, can mobile tracking/tracing identify the exact physical location of a mobile phone?
well that would be the point of a tracking system. its unlikely to trace a mobile phone number but rather the transmitter will give off a signal that can be traced to the phone using a special reciever – you know it beeps frequently when you get closer etc. i didnt think they used in these in mobile phones as they are too many on the market and it would be very hard to hide a transmitter in them that a thief with a bit of electrical know how couldnt spot and remove. the standard thing to do is if you have a mobile stolen is to phone your provider giving them the IMEI number and getting them to block it – the handset therefore becomes unless in the UK, europe etc but will work in other countries that dont use the same signal we do.
