In understanding the underlying causes of racism, do you believe slavery conditioned both owners and slaves?
What about asians who dislike hispanics, hispanics that dislike whites, the list goes on and on. Slavery had nothing to do with those scenarios. I think the problem starts when people exaggerate racism. So someone does not particularly care for another race or ethnic background, that does not make them racist, they just dont want to bothered with those people. But because of the ignorance of people to just accept that not everyone will like them, the cries of racism come, and it snowballs. So if I dont particularly like to spend time or be around black folks, Im a racist? The racism starts within your own mind, not mine. If I go to an Asian store and I can tell they dont really care for me, I dont think they are racist, I just think they probably feel more comfortable around their own kind. So basically, if you want to use the insecurity thing as an excuse, then to me its insecurity from blacks not accepting things and just moving on. Well yeah, I dont care to be around many blacks bec
Slavery was a FUNCTION of racism. Not the cause. Racism is not an “underlying expression of insecurity” (by the way, you probably meant “expression of underlying insecurity”…they mean two very different things). It is a result of looking down on others, not on one’s self. The master/slave relationship did not promote the survival of racism. Rather, the direct consequences of slavery did that. Having people be slaves for generations sure makes it easy to look down on them for being poor, stupid, illterate, etc. from the racist perspective.
