Is 10,500 Green Eyed monsters to many?

I was answered in a previous post (thanks stonee) advising us that 10,500 1:18scale Lowndes 2001 Bathurst Cars have been built. What do people think about this number relative to the likely collectability/desirability of this model? I know there is a fine line between wanting easy access to a model and also wishing for it to become collectable but I’m a bit concerned it may turn out to be similar to the Brock 28C model of which Biante made 12,000 and it hung around for quite a while in shops until it sold out. I cannot help but imagine how the prices would have soared had Biante only released between 5000-6000. As my user name suggests, my brand loyalty is obviously directed towards Holden yet I am always bemused how the values of Fords always seem to out do Holden (both in models and real cars). Many people believe the 00 car will be the model of 2002, so I am interested to hear from others if you think this high build quantity will be a help or hindrance to fulfil this expectation. C
