Is 16 too young to be a good parent?

Either you are a good parent, or you arent. Reading a book on being a good parent wont make you a good parent, it will just give you advice to boost the fact that you are or not. Some teenagers are very mature for their age and would be good parents, but most mature teenagers arent getting prengant, so it all depends. She will have a hard to giving the baby what it needs. And if you devote all your time to her baby, it will suck you dry, just as the baby WILL suck your friend dry. You can help once in a while, offer to buy it some food once in a while, and take your friend out to the movies to have some time away from the baby. But you arent the father or the mother, so let her do most of the caring. But if you see she is doing something wrong with the baby, dont feel wrong to tell her.

Well first of all that is very kind of you to offer to help but, it isn’t your responsibility. Your still a kid too. As for you question, can a 16-year-old be a good mom, yes she can. Anyone can be a good mom. Sure, she is irresponsible for getting pregnant so young but just because she made a few mistakes doesn’t mean she’d be a bad mom. It’s going to be harder for her, yes, but I’ve known a few teen moms who I was worried about when I found out they were pregnant that really grew up after they had their babies and are wonderful moms. Just be there for her like your already doing.
