Is a Cheap LCD TV Good For Digital Signage?

0

When people think of using digital signage, many think they can just go to their local Best Buy and buy an LCD to be used as a digital sign. Believe me when I say, not all LCD displays are made the same! Commercial grade displays are used for digital out of home signage, these are designed for prolonged use compared to a screen in someone’s home. The life expectancy of a commercial display is far longer than a consumer display. This is due to the manufacturers thinking that the home TV’s will only be on a few hours per day, compared to a minimum of 12 hours per day for a digital signage display. Another restriction of using a consumer TV is that the warranty is much more restricted and normally void should they be used for a commercial application. Now besides, warranty and lifespan, commercial screens can be orientated in either portrait or landscape whilst consumer displays cannot. Commercial displays can be connected to computers, WIFI connections and come with serial ports as well
