Is a Chinese Imperial another name for a Shih Tzu?
No the shih tzu is NOT the same – there is no such thing! Irresponsible “breeders” are breeding substandard quality shih tzu (runt to runt), registering them AS shih tzu in AKC but MARKETING them as “chinese imperial/imperial” to create more profit. Responsible breeders that show/exhibit (prove their dogs are worthy of reproducing) maintain a breeding program that is within the ethics and parameters of the American Shih Tzu Club and American Kennel Club.
