Is a corn snake a constrictor??
Wow, some of the previous answers don’t make any sense, and some are more confusing than helpful, so let me try to help! When it comes to snakes, there are two definitions for the word “constrictor.” There are boa constrictors, which along with pythons, are a type of boid (as opposed to vipers or colubrids). Boa constrictors include your various red tailed boas, rainbow boas, anacondas, and other types of boas. The second definition of “constrictor” is any snake which constricts, or squeezes, it’s prey to death. This includes pythons, boas, anacondas, kingsnakes, milksnakes, rat snakes, and cornsnakes, as well as various other colubrids. These snakes grab their prey by biting it and then throwing coils around it in an effort to kill it by constriction. Now that doesn’t mean they do it everytime.
