Is a dormant company exempt from any statutory compliance?

Yes. A private limited company as deemed dormant under the Companies Ordinance in Hong Kong is exempt from filing annual returns with the Companies Registry, holding AGMs, appointing auditors and preparing audited accounts. However, it must file a profits tax return with the Inland Revenue Department, without having to support it with audited financial statements.
