IS A TYPICAL MULTI-VITAMIN WITH 100% OF THE RDAs SUFFICIENT?

NO! Most, if not all, one-a-day type tablets you find at the grocery store and drug store do not contain enough potency to have any significant effect on the body. The recommended daily allowance (RDA) was instituted over 50 years ago by the U.S. Food and Nutrition Board to determine the minimum potency of vitamins necessary to prevent disease and /or death. The U.S. Food and Nutrition Board did not take into account what potency level of vitamins is needed to maintain optimal health rather than border-line health. They also did not take into account a person’s metabolism, their age, eating habits, sex, their general health, medications taken, lifestyle, occupation, climate or environment in which they live. All of these factors affect a person’s daily nutritional requirements. The RDA is now termed RDI (intake.) NOTE: The RDI has not been thoroughly updated for over 25 years.
