I hope it isn’t, and I don’t think it will be. It may well be a year or so until he’s back to full fitness, but if the reports we’ve seen are correct, it shouldn’t be the end of his career. The fact that it was his shin rather than his ankle or knee definitely improves the prognosis, because damage to the joints can be incredibly complicated and sometimes never heal. Stoke’s Rory Delap suffered a similar injury in similar circumstances two or three ago. He was 30 years old at the time, and there were fears that his career was over. But with good medical care and physio, and support from the club, he was back in the game again after about 6 months, and is now in the most successful period of his career. Ramsey’s more than 10 years younger than Delap was, and younger people tend to heal more quickly. I very much hope that, at some point in the 2010/11 season (I very seriously doubt he’ll be back this season), we see Aaron Ramsey return to football, and that the next few years see him rea
