Is aeronautical/ aerospace engineering tougher than other engineering courses?
A lot of the engineering fields require a great deal of mathematical knowledge, but aerospace in particular relies a lot of math that is exact and requires a lot more indefinite factors to be taken into account. Mechanical engineering and chemical engineering have a similar level of difficulty, but the higher up you get in the field, the more important knowledge of math becomes.
If math is not a strong subject for you, it will make aerospace engineering more complicated and seem more difficult.
Yes and No. Yes AE is harder than mechanical although some of the core classes are the same. No, its not harder then chemical engineering. The best scale to see which engineering discipline is tougher to learn would be to see what the difference is in entering gpa’s and exiting gpa’s. Chemical engineering generally have the highest gpa’s going in to the program vs other engineering majors and the exiting gpa’s are noticeable lower than other majors. The people who think that all engineering majors are of equal difficulty are very wrong. That is like saying that all 2000 series college classes are of the same difficulty. If you want to see how hard a major is look at the starting salaries of engineering majors.
