Is America Staffordshire terrier a different name for pitbull terrier?

Well the American Pit Bull Terrier was registered with the United Kennel Club in 1898. The AKC registered the American Staffordshire Terrier in 1936. Most people consider the AST to bee a completely different breed from the APBT. The AST is shorter for starters, and somewhere there’s a great site that shows the difference between the APBT and the AST but I can’t find it for the life of me. http://www.ukcdogs.com/WebSite.nsf/Breed… http://www.akc.org/breeds/american_staff… So yes, they are two separate breeds. Though most of the time people say they’re one breed under the term ‘pit-bull.’ So I wouldn’t be surprised if they were a banned breed, seeing as most likely she’s a BYB seeing as she’s selling at market.
