It’s easy to get Mormons and JWs to stop coming to your house. And I don’t need an ugly sign on my house to do it. All you need to do is give them credible argument refuting their doctrine. In fact, I usually talk right at their “newbie” that is always with them learning the ropes. Some times they have that “deer in the headlights look” and the elder always interrupts to get back to their pointless doctrine. The result is, they will put a big, invisible red X on your door and you should be good for two or three years without them knocking again. Hey Lance – It seems to work for me in my neighborhood. Not sure it will work with others.

I also have had some most interesting discussions with JW’s in particular. Mormons are another matter as I cannot begin to understand their beliefs. But I would not want to prevent them coming. I think there are several reasons why people would not welcome them, you have to know your Bible pretty well otherwise you don’t know whether what they say rings true. Atheists would presumably find them troublesome and it could cause worries for the very elderly who might feel vulnerable. Such callers must get some fairly hostile comments on the doorstep and it takes courage to go from house to house as they do. When I have taken round leaflets for my own church there are cards in some doors saying no JW’s etc and I would have thought that is sufficient for those who feel strongly about the matter.
