Yes, the option of using a battery is back. Remove the battery panel on the back of the controller and connect a standard 9 volt battery. Remove the battery when the system is not in use. Because the lights on the quiz buzzer are high brightness and power, if a battery is used it is recommended that a fresh one be installed at the beginning of a tournament or after 8 hours or so of use.
