Is CARBINITE a spray weld?
No, absolutely not. CARBINITE is applied using a unique process known as electrofusion. Spray welds cannot achieve the strength of bond that we get with electrofusion. • Can CARBINITE be applied to heat treated steels? Yes, CARBINITE works best on hardened tool steels. CARBINITE will actually last longer and will stay sharper on hardened material. • Can CARBINITE be masked? Yes, Since CARBINITE is not a spray process it is easy for us to apply it only where it is wanted. We use a special tape for masking that has high heat resistance and high dielectric strength. • How thick can CARBINITE be applied? CARBINITE should not be used as a smooth surface build-up like hard chroming unless you only need about .0008″. CARBINITE can be applied up to .017″ thick but will not be smooth. • Is CARBINITE available in custom grades? Yes, CARBINITE process is infinitely adjustable, grades between our five standard grades are available. • Can CARBINITE be applied to aluminum? Yes, CARBINITE can be appl
