Is Christianity now the religion of capitalism and materialism, especially in the USA?
Capitalism does not need religion but religion is now capitalism. This is because churches and religions (at least the Christian ones) are 501c3 non-profit corporations. Paying no tax and relatively unregulated, they are good places to raise money without the expense of actually providing a service, except of course for the marketing budget.
