Is christianity the cruelest joke ever foisted upon humanity?

The cruelest joke is probably war. Yes, not all Christians are perfect. From movies and maybe personal experience you may believe that the Catholic Church is just a business empire. There is corruption in Christianity, yes. But there are also peaceful, pure-hearted, loving people. And they are Christians. When you think of “Christianity”, don’t think of it as a netowrk of corruption and power. Think of it as the thing that unites all “Christians”.

The basic tenets of Christianity are love of God, and neighbor, and respect for one another. The greatest power that is advocated by Christianity is the Power of Compassion. Perhaps some humans have twisted Christianity for their own selfish desires– but that STILL does not sully or invalidate the basic Christian message, which is also echoed by EVERY other religion and creed in this world. Love your neighbor as yourself, respect life, do good, be Compassionate.

I’d say human response and interpretation of Christian religion has been a painful mixture of extreme failure and a few blissful successes. Christianity itself, in regards to the spiritual journey in relation to the person of Christ, I’d say is one of the few highlights of this life.
