Is coconut oil suitable for pan frying?

most, if not all nut oils, burn when you try to fry with them. they have a very low burn point and you have to watch them like a hawk. I have not tried coconut oil specifically, but when you fry with peanut oil, it helps to add a little bland, or tasteless oil with a higher smoke heat, such as vegetable oil.

Coconut oil has a low burn point and I don’t recommend frying in it. I have used it to sear steaks and scramble eggs. I wouldn’t use it for food that takes a while to fry. It’s great for sautee’ as well.

I actually do use coconut oil when frying foods. I prefer it over other oils, as a matter-of-fact, using it when frying or scrambling eggs as well as when making on-pan meals. It adds a pleasant flavor to foods. I also use coconut oil to season my cast iron skillet.

Unlike many other cooking oils, coconut oil is very stable and can withstand high cooking temperatures (thanks to its high constitution of saturated fats). It’s perfectly suitable for sauteing, baking, roasting, and even frying. … If not, go for the refined coconut oil, which is extremely neutral in both taste and aroma.
