Wilson was a top Calder Trophy candidate in the preseason and Fantasy sleeper on Draft Day 2009. It was all shaping up well for the Boston University standout until a nasty groin injury sidelined him late in the preseason and kept him out early in the year. Wilson tried to overcome the injury once he made his debut on Oct. 12 but it was clear the 6-1, 215-pound center needed time to mature in the minors. He still battled the groin injury once he landed in Milwaukee (AHL), but Wilson is finally past his injury problems and living up to the hype of a first-round pick. He is having his best month as a pro in January with four goals and 15 points in 13 January games. Predators chief amateur scout Jeff Kealty recently told NHL.com that Wilson is developing as a future star power forward. However, he also hinted that Wilson has more to learn in the minors and it’s best for his long-term development.
