Is Core 2 Duo faster then a Pentium 4?
It’s going to be somewhat faster, but how much depends on what you’re doing, and which P4 3.4 Ghz you have. There were three models of Pentium 4 at that speed, the 550, 650, and 651, and all perform somewhat differently at different tasks, with that Core 2 Duo out performing them, but by varying amounts depending on the task. You should look at the CPU charts on Tom’s Hardware http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_2007.h… for different comparisons, based on what you’re going to be doing with the PC, to decide whether it’s worth it for you.
