Massage should not be painful. The techniques used are designed to get through superficial muscles in order to address the deeper tissue which may be the source of muscle soreness or pain. Clients often state that it is a "hurts so good" feeling, similar to muscle tenderness experienced after a good exercise workout. Therapist/Client communication is key. During this therapeutic massage, it is the responsibility of the therapist to ask how the pressure feels to you and to always work within your comfort level. It is important that you communicate to the therapist when the pressure is not within your tolerance.  more

It might feel intense but it should always feel good. A treatment starts with gentle Swedish strokes to warm up and soften the muscles, preparing them for more, penetrating work. The technique is slower than Swedish massage and should encompass awareness of client sensitivity to increased pressure. In some cases, ice may be recommended after a treatment to help facilitate healing and prevent swelling.  more
