Is Diamondback a decent bike make?

Contrary to Don S, Diamondback is of similar or better quality FOR THE PRICE to any bike brand. In fact, you’ll find that Diamondback tends to have one level better components than Trek or Specialized at the same price. EDIT: his_j_man, I’ll put up any Diamondback BMX or MTB against a similarly PRICED Trek or Crack’n’fail or Specialized. I design bikes and frames, and am also a master framebuilder- you probably know some of the stuff I have done and I can tell you that the frame and component mix are equally important in a bike spec. Wheels are THE MOST important part of a bicycle performance.

Diamondback used to be excellent BMX bikes back in the day. But they are decent enough still. Their mountain bikes are ok, and they have some entry level road bikes as well, the brand is called DBR (diamondback racing) I regard them as high end department store bikes, which are still lower than bike shop bikes with brands like Trek, Specialized, Giant, etc. But better than Murray, Roadmaster, Next.

I would have to agree with Ron S. Diamondbacks are a super department store bike, but are on the lower quality end of actual cycling retailers. They had their glory days of the 1990s, but now they can barely edge their way in with even Fuji, or Raleigh. A cut below Trek, Specialized, Cannondale, or Gary Fisher. Basically good for people who want a cheaper bike decked out with expensive parts. As for bikeworks’s answer. He may be right about running them alongside a Trek 3700, but on the other end of the money spectrum, nothing in Diamondback’s line can hold up to a Trek Fuel 9x or Cannondale Rush, in something other than components and fork, which make up a very small part of the bicycle value. Frame is everything, wheels come in a distant 2nd, especially on mountain bikes, everything else is minor.
