Is doing 3-4 sets of the same heavy weight for 6-8 reps conducive to hypertrophy and strength increases?

I have read many routines that involve pyramiding up in weight but for heavy,compund exercises I started staying at the same heavy weight for 6-8 reps for 3-4 working sets.I try to increase my weight every time I reach 10-11 reps.  more
