Is EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance) still in operation?

Leigh’s information is out of date but although half of her answer is right. Yes EMA is still in operation. I know how you feel I don’t like Conservatives either. However there is one small change which is that people who will receive EMA will no longer be able to receive bonuses in the Christmas/New Year period and End of year as this is a big part of the government’s “massive” spending cuts. I have been receiving EMA since I was 16 and don’t anymore since I’m 19 now but I still receive grants from ALG (Adult Learning Grant) which will be the same as EMA. Adult Learning Grant is for people aged 19 and over as you will receive EMA until you are 18/19. When you apply for EMA you should expect to have proof of your parents’ income and that their salaries (and income) should not exceed over £30,000 a year, otherwise you won’t be eligible for the grant. The £30 is not abolished so you’ve got no worries there. If you get your application sent back then that means that they either want more
