Is Endometriosis Heredity?

0

My aunt is having a hysterectomy for the treatment of her endometriosis. My mother had a hysterectomy for endometriosis, too. My mother and I have both had extremely painful periods. I am concerned that I take a large amount of ibuprofen during every period. I have been on birth control for two and a half years and my periods have lightened somewhat, however, they used to last only 4-5 days and now they last from two days after I finish a pill pack until two days after I begin a new one. I was wondering if you could give me some information about how much of a factor heredity is in endometriosis, and whether you think my symptoms might be a precursor to later problems.
