In appearance, engineered wood flooring looks the same as solid. Because the best wood is used only on the face, engineered wood floors use re-claimed wood and forests more efficiently, with less impact on the environment. The underlying construction of engineered consists of 3 layers of wood. Each layer is called a “ply” and are oriented in different directions for strength, then glued under pressure. Engineered floors handle seasonal changes with less stress and movement and acclimate faster on the job, reducing construction time.
