Is expensive Tea better than tea bags?
It is better, but it’s even better when you make it right. Use a cast iron teapot. Boil water and pour a little into teapot to preheat. Dump out warming water and add tea leaves (don’t use the infuser basket – take it out). Add hot (not boiling) water. The optimum temp varies from about 180-190 degrees F, depending on the tea. Let steep for about 4 minutes. While steeping, pour some water into cup to preheat, dump when ready to pour. Pour tea through the infuser basket into a cup. If you want milk with the tea, add milk to empty cup before the tea. You don’t need expensive tea, but good leaves make a difference. Store the leaves in an airtight, light proof container and they’ll last for 1-2 years easily.
