Is “Extended Driving Test” harder to pass for experienced driver than normal test for inexperienced learner?
Yes the extended test is harder to pass. it is a minimum of 70 minutes and will include all the manoeuvres i.e. Parallel parking, Reverse around the corner, Turn in the road , emergency stop and will most likely finish with a reverse park into a parking bay. While on test the examiner is looking for a safe and controlled drive. as a hgv driver your friend will have a lot of experience but also some bad habits. be aware of speed, 30 mph is just that not 32,33 or any thing above the limit. Examiners are unbiased but they have to be sure that the standard is there to allow him to have his licence back. he is allowed a number of minor errors (15) but no serious or dangerous faults. I would advise your friend to phone an approved driving school and have an assessment drive just to tidy up the loose ends before he takes his test.Just to back up theanswer I am an approved driving instructor who also trains driving instructors .
