Both. EPA has the authority over surface disinfectants and FDA has authority over Medical Devices. Germ Pro, Surface Disinfectant was reviewed by both EPA and FDA per the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) dated 6/4/93. The Surface Disinfectant was granted clearance by the FDA to be sold as a “Medical Device, general purpose disinfectant to be used on non-critical devices, dental and medical equipment, surfaces such as wheelchairs, dental chairs and medical beds in health care facilities”.
