Is global warming melting Earths glaciers?
Glaciers are masses of ice that grow on land when annual snowfall exceeds snowmelt. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, there is indeed “ample” evidence that many non-polar glaciers around the world are retreating and have, in come cases, disappeared completely. Images from satellites allow scientists to monitor changes in the size of glaciers from year to year. For more about climate change science, check out this USA TODAY resource page.
