Is guano toxic or dangerous?
Guano on its own is no more toxic than any other feces. However in large quantities and arid conditions a fungus may grown on bat guano. If the guano is disturbed the spores will erupt and can be inhaled, which can lead to histoplasmosis. This fungus can be found in bird droppings as well. Contact your local health department or the center for disease control for more information on histoplasmosis.
