Is Heberprot-P the answer to amputations among diabetics?
10/3/2010 Diabetes is today a major illness confronting Barbadians. Unregulated and untreated, it can lead ultimately to amputations, severe medical complications,and even death. Recent reports indicate a substantial number of persons diagnosed with diabetes in Barbados, a number which may well continue to increase. Heberprot-P, a drug originally called CITOPROT-P, was developed several years ago by the Havana Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology. Reports suggest that patent approval has been granted in Australia, China, South Korea, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Ukraine, the USA and Europe. The drug has also been presented for patent approval in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, and Thailand, if it has not been already approved in these countries.
