I’ve been to both many times in the course of my business. Due to the corporate influence in Lancaster co, statistics actually place them third in Amish population now, behind Elkhart/LaGrange counties in Indiana. In all areas where the Amish are, there will be tourist attractions that are most definitely NOT Amish owned, but yet are still quite popular among the ignorant (keep in mind the root word of that is “ignore”) Holmes County does have the Amish/Mennonite history and cultural center, which draws many inquisitive folks from many areas. Also, Holmes is located geographically much more rural, without the major 4-6 lane roads, although the traffic is still very high, especially in the fall (now) when the leaves turn. A very popular area for “leaf peepers” There are many more hills in Holmes than Lancaster, and winding roads.
