Is hot water heavier than cold water?

in terms of density w.r.t temperature, water is perhaps the strangest substance on earth,,,, the density of water is maximum at 4 degree centigrade…. now water cooler than this temp will be lighter than it, which means that ice is lighter than water and floats on it, similarly water above this temp will be lighter than water at this particular temperature ( but there is no question of floating as the samples at two temps will instantly mix together)… to be precise, water is at its heaviest at 4 degree Celsius and lighter on both sides of the temp scale.
