Spoke to an IBM Rep today expressing my interest in the product. They described it as a legacy product that will be in sustain mode without major enhancements but will continue to support existing clients. They mentioned moving to more open source architecture Jazz suite.

There are no plans to discontinue Rational Rose, which is still a viable product and will be the better choice for many developers. Both products provide important development capabilities, and both will continue to provide value to developers.
