Is it a sin to masturbate?
There is nothing in scripture to suggest that masturbation is a sin. I would file things into three categories: Sin, Scruple, and Stupid. We cannot MAKE something a sin or accuse someone of a sin that is not explicit in scripture. And we cannot condemn others for masturbation because it is not an explicit sin in scripture. What IS a sin and what IS explicit in scripture is LUST and PORNOGRAPHY. If masturbation is associated with those two things then it would fall into the category of sin. In majority of his writings, Paul dealt with matters of scruples. The Jews had issues with eating meat offered to idols but the Gentiles did not. And Paul would tell the Corinthian church (for example) 8:6-9 that we know that there is One God and we are no worse if we eat it and no better if we don’t. BUT, if what I am doing causes my brother to stumble… DON’T DO IT. Paul is saying that he has no problem with eating meat offered to idols but if he meets someone that does, that person cannot convict
