BismAllah el rahmaan el raheem First of all, yes it is haram (forbidden) in Islam to be in a relationship before marriage. Reason being, is because being in a relationship before marriage are the stepping stones to sins and bring you to more and more paths of sins you may find it difficult to get out of. Relationship before marriage is basically leaving the couple alone, but they are not alone, they have a third with them, who is the shaytaan. The shaytaan persuades the couple to commit adultery, hugging, kissing and other sins before marriage. Therefore, if you had sex, this may lead to abortion which is haram, may lead to financial difficulties and most of all, family problems. Frankly, most relationship before marriage don’t last very long and not considered as important as marriage. On the other hand, marriage shows the importance of the relationship and makes it more difficult for the couple to break up, because divorce is known as a ‘bad’ act in Islam which is (most of the time)
