If you don’t know about Avatar, here are the basic facts: 1. It’s James Cameron’s first film since Titanic, which for those of you keeping score was 12 years ago. He also did Terminators 1 and 2, True Lies, and The Abyss– the man has a sterling track record. 2. It’s about humankind establishing a settlement on a new planet, only to find themselves battling with the indigenous people. Pretty epic stuff. 3. Cameron conceived this movie over a decade ago, but new technology wasn’t ready. So over the past several years, Cameron invented new 3D camera technology for his movie, which will be presented in IMAX 3D come December. If you watch this trailer without thinking how cool it will be in that format, I pity you. 4. The action sequences look positively mind-blowing. Think the Star Wars prequels, without being nearly as cartoony, not by a longshot. 5.
