Part-time is 20 hours or less (usually) so if you work those type of hours, work and claim unemployment but report your work hours correctly. You can only receive benefits if you are physically able and actively looking for work so if you turn down a job, any job, technically you can therefore be denied unemployment benefits. Also, when trying to get a job in the future you'll have to explain the length of time you were unemployed. The potential employer will wonder why you were unable to get a job during this time if you truly are an excellent candidate. By turning down or quitting a part-time job because unemployment pays more... that's just not a good thing for ANYONE looking at you. Besides, it's only part-time... you obviously should still have plenty of time available to devote to your film script. ... more
