Is it developmentally appropriate for very young students, who rarely use computers, to use the computer for assessment?

We have interviewed K-2 teachers and researched this topic and determined that young children can handle the simple computer tasks ELPA will require. Moreover, we have constructed a test that most young children will consider fun and engaging. As with introducing anything new at this age level, children will need time for free exploration, learning to manipulate the mouse and doing practice tests. We have provided some resources for your use on line at http://www.oregonelp.net/ and in the ELPA Test Administration Manual.
