Yes it is. Plastic bags either disposable reusable are far more environmentally friendly than other materials. The break even point on reusable bags made from synthetic fibers is about 200 regular plastic bags. That is: once you avoid using 200 regular plastic bags the reusable bag is more environmentally friendly. This is based upon the weight of material in the reusable bag. If you use paper bags the number is much lower. Around 20 uses. If the reusable bag is cotton, the break even point is much higher because cotton has a carbon footprint about 3 times greater than synthetic fibers. I think reusable bags are great.  more
