Is it legal for a judge to appoint guardian without speaking to kid?
He sure can especially if he feels it is in the best interest of the child, which obviously, he did. The guardian has all the rights to the child, just like a parent would. I dont think he can put a kid in a psychiatric ward at any WHIM….he has to have a really good reason. And even if he did, he would be admitted, then observed and evaluated. If there is no problem, the psychiatric ward could not keep him, despite what the judge did. In other words, the judge could put him there initially, but it would be the medical community that would decide if he stayed.
