Is it legal to have a fox as a pet?
Technically, in most places it can be legal to own one as a pet. Some states have banned them completely (all exotic animals – such as California.) Other states it’s legal to have them if you acquire a permit that has proof that you’ve had 2 years of experience with the animal prior to obtaining it. In some states it’s perfectly legal, and you generally just have to get an import permit if you’re obtaining it from another state. (But those aren’t hard to get- as you just apply after you get one, share what living conditions you have for it, and pay a $25-$50 annual fee.) Most all cities ban them though- or have some laws pertaining to them. So, even if it’s legal in your state, you could have troubles in your local area.
