Is it ok to let anybody come to our country and buy firearms?
Now I am not American, but I would argue that if you are going to allow the general public born and bred in America to buy firearms but not legal immigrants to, it is entirely unfair. Such a law would be basically saying people emigrating to America don’t have the same right to defend themself as someone born America. I don’t support fire arms laws, I think the purchasing of such weapons should be outlawed in the US, but I believe if you are going to say purchasing fire arms is acceptable then you can’t deny that right to people moving to America. Legal immigrants are just (or possibly more) likely to be involved in a situation where they have to defend themselves. You would get situations where honest hard working law-abiding immigrants have nothing to defend themselves with against an armed American robber who could stroll into a gun shop and buy what they like as long as they hadn’t committed any previous offenses. I am aware of the incident this stems from and I think what has happ
No… Firearms are a big responsibility. I firmly believe in the right to bear arms and I am an avid competition shooter. Having immersed myself in combat, national security, hunting, and target shooting, I have seen guns used in a very wide variety of situations. I can tell you for certain that not “just anybody” regardless of whether or not they are from the host country – should be able to buy a gun if they have a criminal, or questionable background… A history of mental instability, for example. Now, having said that, I can also tell you that the bad guys are going to get guns whether it is legal for them to do so, or not.
