Is it okay for my cousin (a boy) to wear girls clothing?

If I were his parent, I would allow him to wear his sister’s clothes as long as his sister doesn’t mind. You know, he might be doing this just to annoy his sister. If other kids start making fun of him, he probably will change his ways. But some kids, for some reason, are unable to change their ways, and become total outcasts with their peer group. Talk to your cousin about this habit in a non-judgmental way. There are lots of reasons he might like to dress in girl’s clothing, and there is no way that he can know that people get upset about boys dressing as girls unless someone tells him. Kids don’t know these things. That’s why kids have family and friends who will discuss stuff like this with them. This six year old may have noticed that he gets lots of attention by dressing in girl’s clothing, and just be going for the attention. Maybe you could pay extra attention to him when he’s not dressed in girl’s clothing so he wouldn’t have to do weird things to get attention.
