Is it okay to keep a Daschund puppy outside in the spring and summer months?

“Keep” outside no. It would be the same as “keeping” a child under 7 years outside unsupervised. In addition summer is flea time, well maybe not in addition, the kids would get fleas too. More dogs suffer and die due to the heat of summer than the cold of winter and pups are even more susceptable to weather conditions. Certainly let the pup out to explore and learn, but supervize. It will be safer and you can correct behavior that will be a nuisance or even dangerous when it gets older and spends more time outdoors alone. ( I wish I had thot about keeping the kids outside when they were between about 14 and 19, on a heavy chain, in a padlocked run, and year round too.
