H there, I on’t know where you live but in England folic acid is routinely advised for the first twelve completed weeks of pregnancy as this is the period that your baby’s back is forming and the folic acid’s purpose is to ensure no abnormalities of the baby’s back. After 12 completed weeks (i.e. 12 weeks +6 days) Folic Acid is no longer necessary. In terms of the iron, in England women are only given iron suplementation in pregnancy if it is required (i.e. iron count is low) or the pregnant woman advises us of a poor diet with few iron rich foods. Always abide by the advice you’ve been given but if you are unsure or the iron is giving you side effects there are different forms of iron you can take to help this. Hope this helps!
