all the the thumbs down are for the people saying that the baby would definately need NICU care and their lungs not being developed. I know the lungs are the last organ to develope completely, but at 34 weeks, baby should be able to breath on their own without the aid of ventilation. Although 34 weeks is early, unless the baby had some underlying problem and was really small for the gestional age due to IUGR (Intra Unterine Growth Retardation) or something of the like, they baby would be considered a feeder grower. The baby would just need to learn how to feed from bottle or breast, maintain their body temperature, and continue to gain weight while doing so. Baby may need a little supplemental oxygen for a bit delivered by nasal cannula, but more than likely would not need intensive care treatment.
