If any infection has not been dealt with by antibiotics before the extraction then it is possible to still have infection. As the previous answer rightly said, you need to be careful not to disturb the clot but do use mouthwash or a saline rinse…carefully. An extraction does cause trauma to the gum & jaw and can cause some pain in adjacent teeth for a few days after the treatment, especially with the larger back teeth. Make sure you take regular painkillers until things settle a little. If you find that the pain is actually getting worse or you have any bad smell from the area then you really need to get in touch with the dentist again in case you need antibiotics. Good luck & hope you soon feel better. p.s. Love the name…do you have any of them for this pain?
