Is it possible to counterfeit a coin?

0

Yes it is, but the chances of it being found out to be a counterfeit, is almost certain. The way most counterfeiters counterfeit money is to make a copy from a real coin. The treasury that makes coins put certain designs into coins that are impossible to reproduce perfectly. When you make a mould of anything, there are air pockets and minor defects. To the trained eye these are picked up quickly. The only other way to counterfeit coins would be to mill one using a real coin as a proof. Considering the cost to set up and maintain an operation like that, and the fairly low cost of the average coin, it (to use a bad pun) would be a waste of money.
